Interior lighting can look great at night, but placement matters. A setup that feels subtle when parked may become distracting once the road ahead is dark.
Keep direct light out of the driver's view
Ambient lighting is usually most comfortable when the illuminated surface is visible but the brightest light source is not shining directly toward the driver's eyes. Footwell areas and low trim zones can be easier to manage than high dashboard positions.
Use brightness conservatively
More brightness is not always better. Strong cabin lighting can compete with the view through the windscreen. Start with a lower-intensity effect where the product allows normal adjustment.
Consider colour and movement
Constant, restrained lighting can feel calmer than fast-changing effects. If you use RGB or music-reactive products, choose modes appropriate to the situation and avoid anything that becomes distracting while driving.
Keep controls and safety systems clear
Do not position lights or cables over airbags, vents, gauges, switches, pedals, steering components or moving seat mechanisms.
Choose lighting based on the area
For low-level cabin ambience, footwell lights can keep the visual effect below the main sightline. For a continuous accent, fibre-optic lighting may suit appropriate trim routes.
