Buying a longer LED strip than you need can leave you with excess cable or lighting that is difficult to position neatly. Buying too little can leave gaps. A few minutes of planning before ordering can make the choice much easier.
Decide where the light will go
Start by choosing the exact areas you want to illuminate. Common interior accent locations include footwell areas and suitable trim zones. Do not plan lighting across airbags, controls, vents, pedals or moving mechanisms.
Measure the intended route
Use a flexible tape measure to follow the approximate route where the strip would sit. Measure the route rather than simply measuring the width of the dashboard or seat area in a straight line.
Include the route to power
The lighting itself is only part of the installation. Think about where the USB or other approved power connection is located and how the cable can reach it without becoming a trip or snag hazard.
Do not buy length just for the sake of it
Our Bluetooth RGB interior LED strips are available in several lengths from 1m to 5m. The best option is the one that suits your planned route, not necessarily the longest version.
Check corners and transitions
A route that bends around several interior sections may need more length than a straight run. At the same time, avoid forcing lighting materials around shapes they are not designed to follow.
Write down your plan
Before ordering, note the measured route, power position and intended mounting areas. This gives you something concrete to compare with the product options.
